1. Booking & Payment
1.1. A non-refundable deposit of £100 is required to secure a booking. The remaining balance must be paid no later than 7 days before the event.
1.2. Bookings are confirmed only after the deposit has been received and a confirmation email has been sent.
1.3. Failure to Pay the Remaining Balance:
If the full balance is not received 7 days before the event, the booking will be considered at risk of cancellation.
A final payment reminder will be sent to the client. If payment is not received within 48 hours of this reminder, the DJ reserves the right to cancel the booking, and any payments made up to that point (including the deposit) will be forfeited.
2. Cancellations & Refunds
2.1. Cancellations made by the client at least 30 days before the event will receive a refund of any payments made, excluding the non-refundable deposit.
2.2. Cancellations within 30 days of the event will be charged at 50% of the total fee, and cancellations within 7 days will be charged at 100% of the total fee.
2.3. In the unlikely event that the DJ needs to cancel, a full refund will be provided, and reasonable efforts will be made to arrange a replacement DJ.
3. Venue & Equipment
3.1. The client is responsible for ensuring the venue provides sufficient space and power supply for the DJ's setup.
3.2. If the venue requires a Portable Appliance Test (PAT) certificate or Public Liability Insurance (PLI), this must be requested in advance. Please note that if your venue requires updated or event-specific PAT certification and it falls outside of our standard coverage, a small fee may apply to cover the cost of testing. I’ll always confirm this with you in advance.
3.3. The DJ’s equipment must be used only by the DJ, and the client/guests should not interfere with the setup.
4. Performance & Music Requests
4.1. The DJ will play a mix of music tailored to the event. The client may provide a playlist or specific requests in advance, ideally no later than one week before the event to allow for preparation.
4.2. Requests on the night will be accommodated where possible, but the DJ retains discretion over the playlist.
4.3. If any technical issues arise beyond the DJ’s control (e.g., venue power failure), the DJ will not be held responsible for any disruptions.
5. Event Timings & Set-Up
5.1. The DJ requires at least 1 hour for setup and sound checks before the event.
5.2. Any changes to agreed timings must be discussed in advance. Late-night extensions may be possible at an additional cost.
5.3. The DJ reserves the right to refuse to perform if the environment is unsafe (e.g., aggressive behavior, damaged equipment, venue issues).
6. Client & Guest Conduct
6.1. The client is responsible for guest behavior. Any damage to DJ equipment caused by guests may result in additional charges.
6.2. If the DJ or equipment is at risk due to aggressive or inappropriate behavior, the performance may be terminated without a refund.
7. Music Licensing
7.1. Music Licensing Responsibility: As the DJ, I provide music for your event using legally obtained music files, compact discs, and vinyl records from legitimate sources.
However, it is the event organiser's (the customer’s) responsibility to ensure that any necessary music licensing is in place for the event venue.
7.2. Private Events: In most cases, private events such as weddings, birthday parties, and private celebrations held in non-commercial settings do not require additional music licensing from organisations like PRS for Music or PPL UK.
These licenses are generally required only for public events, ticketed events, or events held in public venues without existing music licenses.
7.3. Venue Responsibility: If the event is being held in a licensed venue (e.g. a hotel, function hall, or bar), the venue usually holds the appropriate PRS/PPL licenses already.
We recommend confirming this with the venue in advance.
7.4. Liability: I cannot be held liable for any licensing breaches where the appropriate permissions were not secured by the organizer or venue. Should a license be required, it must be arranged prior to the event date.
8. Liability & Insurance
8.1. In situations where sound coverage requires placement of speakers at a distance from the DJ booth (e.g., separate rooms, outdoor areas, or long cable runs), all efforts will be made to install and route cables safely using cable covers or protectors.
However, the client is responsible for ensuring the venue allows such cable routing and that it does not interfere with venue operations, doorways, emergency exits, or cause a safety hazard.
8.2. The DJ will take care to route cables safely, but the client remains responsible for ensuring such arrangements are acceptable to the venue and do not create any safety or access issues.
If specific cable paths are required (e.g., across high-traffic areas), this must be communicated at least 15 days prior to the event so proper safety measures and equipment can be arranged. Additional charges may apply for long-distance setups or added safety materials.
9. Liability & Insurance
9.1. The DJ holds Public Liability Insurance (PLI) but is not responsible for injuries or accidents related to the venue or third-party equipment.
9.2. The DJ is not liable for any losses due to unforeseen circumstances (e.g., extreme weather, accidents, road closures).
10. Agreement
10.1. By booking the DJ, the client agrees to these Terms and Conditions.
